  • In Annihilation, there's a way to collect rare-items and gain some Shotbow XP for your team- Killing bosses! There are three bosses in the game, all chosen at random after Phase 4 has started- Celariel, Firwen, and the Wither.

    Once Phase 4 has started, the boss portal will be spawned or opened at two predetermined locations on the map. These locations can be at mid, between two bases, virtually anywhere.

    Once a boss has been killed, it drops a Boss Buff (Nether Star) for the entire team that killed it, and a varied amount of Shotbow XP per multiplier.


    Wither(top)


    An Annihilation Wither is different from its vanilla counterpart:
    • It will not move from the center of the arena.
    • The skulls it shoots do not inflict the wither effect, but will still inflict damage.
    • It will create a ring of white particles around one player and after a few seconds everyone in the circle will take a moderate amount of damage.
    In addition to all this, you also have to deal with all the enemies who also want to kill the wither.

    The skulls the wither shoots deal 4 hearts ([IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]) of damage each.
    The ring will deal 3 hearts ([IMG][IMG][IMG]) of damage.
    Damage is for players with no armor.

    Teamed(top)

    If you have many teammates who wish to attack the wither, the best method of approach is to bring up a teleport near the boss portal when it comes up. With this, you can overwhelm any other team(s) that attempt to attack the boss. This also allows any players that are defeated to instantly come back and continue to attack, putting more pressure on enemies and the wither.

    If this isn't possible, or you only have a few players who wish to attack the wither, it is best to gear up as best you can before jumping into the portal. If there are any enemies in the boss arena, make sure to check the wither health. For most cases, you can attempt to kill any enemies attacking the wither. However, if the wither is very close to dying, and you know you can't kill all the enemies before it dies, you can attempt to steal the buff.
    To do this, try to have one player draw the attention of the enemies. Then the other player can run up to the wither and kill it, stealing the buff.

    You're also able to create splash strength potions to give your whole group a major advantage when charging the wither, not only killing enemies faster, but also the wither. This can make the wither fight a breeze.

    Solo(top)

    If you plan to solo the wither, be sure to have a strong sword with plenty of durability left in it and decent armor to battle off any foes that may come your way. If you are the first player in the arena, the wither will be shooting three heads at you. You should hit the wither first, then run behind a pillar until it stops shooting you, then run up to it again. It should now only shoot one head.
    You should now run circles around the wither while hitting it, and should sustain little to no damage during the whole fight. This strategy works a lot better if no enemies end up coming in, your teammates decide to join in, or you have a very sharp sword and strength potions.

    If you enter the arena and enemies are present, you can attempt to steal the buff. Simply running underneath the wither when it's just about to die can have you pick up the buff from the enemy.
    You can also use classes, such as swapper, to switch the enemy away from the buff just as the wither dies, or assassin to swoop in at the last second and claim the buff.

    Celariel(top)


    Celariel is the Golem of Ice, they will use ice based attacks and have snow golem minions that shoot snowalls that slow you down when they hit you.

    Celariel will hit an unarmored player for 2 hearts ([IMG][IMG]) to 3.5 hearts ([IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]) and will launch the player ~5 blocks into the air.
    Celariel's first ability, slam, will knock a player back ~4 blocks and launch them ~4 blocks into the air and will slow the player down for 2 seconds.
    Celariel's second ability, meteor, will, on direct hit, deal 3.5 hearts ([IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]) of damage.
    Celariel will also spawn Snowmen, which throw snowballs that deal 0.5 hearts ([IMG]) of damage and slow the player down for 0.5 seconds, making them an easier target.

    Firwen(top)


    Firwen is the Golem of Fire, they will use fire based attacks and have magma cube minions that will light you on fire if touched.

    Firwen will hit an unarmored player for 2 hearts ([IMG][IMG]) to 3.5 hearts ([IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]) and will launch the player ~5 blocks into the air.
    Firwen's first ability, slam, will knock a player back ~4 blocks and launch them ~4 blocks into the air and will set the player on fire for 1 second, dealing 1 additional heart ([IMG]) of damage.
    Firwen's second ability, meteor, will, on direct hit, deal 3.5 hearts ([IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]) of damage.
    Firwen will also spawn small Magma Cubes, which each deal 1 heart ([IMG]) and set the player on fire for 0.5 seconds, dealing 0.5 additional hearts ([IMG]) of damage.

    Teamed(top)

    The strategy for fighting either golem is essentially the same, not matter which one you fight. The strategy for fighting the golems is very much the same as the wither also. If you have many teammates attacking the golems, use a tp to apply continuous pressure on both the golems and possibly any other enemy that jumps into the fight.

    For a smaller group, it's best to gear up as best as possible before attempting to fight the boss. Check for enemies and check the boss health. If there are enemies, and the boss is low, you can attempt to steal the buff. However, unlike the wither, the golems will run towards their target, making it a bit harder to figure out where the boss is to steal the buff. It is still the best thing if you know you have no chance of beating the enemies and fighting the golem.

    You may also make strength potions to kill enemies and the golems faster.

    If there are no enemies, and only a small amount of you, have the golem fight one player at a time. If that player is low (3.5 hearts ([IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]) or lower), have them run around the pillars (where you spawn in) trying to get the golem stuck. Once the golem is stuck, have them run to the other side of the map to get the golem to untarget them and target another player. Rinse and repeat.

    Solo(top)

    If you plan to solo the golems, you'll need to realise the amount of damage the golems and plan accordingly. Unlike the wither, the golems will chase you, send their minions to attack you and will do anything to kill you. Using Acrobat is the best course of action as all fall damage is negated when using it.

    Make sure you have very good armor (iron is minimum, diamond is recommended), but only if you want to survive the boss, and a very good sword for damage. If the golem has you on low health (3.5 hearts ([IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]) or lower), try to run around the pillars (where you spawn in) and get him stuck. Then, run to the other side of the map to recover hearts. If you see an enemy while low, leave the arena (it's not worth losing your stuff along with the buff), unless the boss is already really low.

    If you don't have any armor, don't worry! The golems never regenerate health, so the best course of action here is to switch to Transporter and set a tp from your base to the boss. Then, jump in, run to the boss and do as much damage as possible. Don't worry about dying. When you do die, just keep using your tp and fighting the boss until it dies (be careful not to get knocked off the arena into the void as you kill the boss as there will be no way to get the boss buff).

    If you ever are getting attacked by the minions, take care of them first. They will otherwise be extremely annoying.

    Reward(top)

    Whichever team picks up the Boss Buff after the boss is killed will get a reward, meaning you are able to steal the boss buff if another team doesn't pick it up. Every member of that team will receive one Boss Buff which will open a shop and let you take one legendary item listed below. All items are soulbound but not the Boss Buff itself.

    Witch Miniboss(top)


    The Witch is a sort of 'miniboss' that spawns at phase 3. Every team has a designated area near their base for the witch to spawn. They act like vanilla witches, drinking and throwing potions.
    When killed they will drop either 1 Glowstone or 1 Gunpowder. They will also sometimes drop a potion on killing it (chances are most likely similar to Vanilla).
    They are the only source of gunpowder and glowstone (provided the map has no blocks), not including the Alchemist class.

    They will respawn 30 seconds after the previous witch has died, in a flash of lightning.

    • The Boss Buff item can be dropped, so watch out if there are enemies nearby when you get it, or you might just donate a valuable item!
    • The Boss Buff is one of the most critical items in the game, for it offers items that have the potential to be unmatched.
    • Interestingly, all bosses have an equal amount of chance to spawn (33.3), but it seems as though Firwen and the Wither spawn more often than Celariel
