Suggestion - MineZ2 Wishlist - Simple updates

As we all know dev resources are scarce right now and we are in a bit of a waiting game for updates to M2. Everyone is chomping at the bit to get large updates but while we wait "patiently" for the resource focus, a few suggestions for simple updates that would make some impact to play immediately that are not resource intensive.

    • Diamond tools: Ability to craft diamond tools would allow us to continue to work on proficiencies for new things. It means more people may shift focus to diamond farming so the house grind with the axe counts for something as most everyone building houses in the north has maxed the axe prof. And, most importantly, this means I can finally have the pristine diamond hoe of my dreams!!!
    • Mineable Ore: Not sure if there is a valid reason ores are nor mineable as of yet, but updating it where it is would address some of the concerns with the armor grind, or at least give options. To be fair, I personally feel that it isn't that hard to get pristine armor, but giving player an additional method to obtain/farm iron cant hurt. This would also allow me to get on some gold digs and LOOK FABULOUS ALL THE TIME(<-most importantly)!!
    • String Nerf: Lots of suggestions on the wool grind, let's be simple about it, make cobweb drop 3 string. Forget about the complex mechanics on other methods/suggestions, its a pain point, stick with an easy fix. There is also a suggestion that maybe wool should randomly spawn in chest, set with the same frequency of cobweb to fix this, also an easy add option, either or both would fix a very large pain point.
    • Potatoes gonna potate: Allow potatoes and carrots that are in various location on the map to be farmed (and be baked where applicable). Cause why not, they are there taunting me as I wander the likes of Kuwana, get in my belly!!
These are 3 things I feel can make a quick improvement as we wait, agree/disagree? I spend a lot of time on the forums(no-life) just what I'd suggest to cover a large amount of the current concerns outside of large updates and bug fixes that can make an immediate impact with little time needed to make it happen.

Very good suggestions considering two of them have already been semi added. (/Recipe shows the diamond tools and ores are placed around the map) I do feel like diamond ores are slightly overpowered but it can easily be nerfed in a way that makes it so your proficiency needs to be high to mine it or you need a diamond pickaxe or simply make them hard to physically reach, I'm looking at you Chasmal...
Wool farming really is annoying and makes the game just a bit too grindy, making cobwebs drop 3 or even 2 string would make it so much better, considering breaking them down in an anvil gives off 2 string.

Have you found the diamond ores yet? They are hard to get to(the ones I know of), and it takes two people to get to them already with one having to sacrifice and stand on a pressure plate while the other mines so they already planned for this suggestion it seems to me.

/recipe also already shows you how to smelt iron, gold and diamond. It also show how to craft up to gold but it doesn't show how to craft diamond tools, you can't even craft a diamond sword today.

I recently played MineZ 1, and it is so much more fun than MineZ 2. I think it would be a good idea to delete MineZ 2 to give MineZ 1 more players and to add some updates to MineZ 1.

These are the reasons why Minez 2 is terrible compared to MineZ 1.

    - Proficiences are pointless. They just reward grindy behavior. When an experienced person attacks you, not only do they have the advantage of their skill, they also have the advantage of proficiences (also perhaps a better weapon, armor, more potions, and more people in their group). Proficiences just add yet another reason why it is almost impossible for a noob to defeat an experienced player.

    - Houses are a huge waste of time and are mostly pointless.
    • Bedrooms are almost useless because you can just drink a potion (and you can only use them at night).
    • Farms are the only useful thing about houses.
    • Alts can be used instead of chest rooms (and they are safer too).
    • Furnaces, anvils, and crafting tables can be found in towns.
    • Trophy rooms are pointless.
    • Balconies are pointless.
    • Houses require way too much grinding. Grinding is not fun, and therefore it should not be in the game.
    • Houses only last 10 days. Once you build a house, Shotbow owns you. You must play the game every 10 days from then on, for the rest of your life. When you play the game that much, you start to think that is worth it to buy premium. Premium costs $100. Shotbow therefore is doing whatever it can to get $100 from you. It takes a very strong individual to let their house decay (such as me).
    - MineZ 2 isn't actually an attempt at an improvement of MineZ. It was just a hype generator. The trailer for MineZ 2 shows things such as wolves, which are still not in the game. The original schedule for updates was totally cancelled, and people need to stop hoping for updates. Shotbow has said that MineZ 2 will not receive updates because there aren't enough players (Shotbow thinks that the number of active players is independent of the quality of the game). In fact, Shotbow has cancelled all further development on MineZ 2.

    - You can only mine stone and coal.

    - The non-PvP zone is a terrible idea. People say that it gives players a chance to gear up before they go North. You know what else gives players a chance to gear up safely before going North? Simply giving them the necessary items when they spawn in. But you say, that is ridiculous and would be way too easy. Well, gearing up in the no-PvP zone is also ridiculously easy and is no fun at all. In MineZ 1 it is actually fun to gear up down South because you have that constant fear that something that can go wrong, that a bandit can come any minute and kill everyone.

    - Although I have legendary disease resistance, I still feel sorry for the people who have to cook their water. Cooking water is just a nuisance and that's all it is for experienced players. There is no point for it to be added to the game. And don't say it's realistic, because needing to drink a whole bottle of water every 15 minutes or so is not realistic.

    - Bows are useless in PvP.

    - There is nothing in place to deter server hoppers. No warning "Sounds like someone is nearby", and no slowness upon spawning in.

    - When you attack a zombie all the zombies in a huge radius come running after you. There is no way to act sneakily and kill just a few zombies that block your path, unless you use a bow.

    - The armor upgrading system is so grindy and pointless. It is enough to have your armor upgraded from leather to chain to iron. Why was there a need to add another upgrading system on top of this, with Ruined, Worn, and Pristine? Finding a piece of armor in a chest now is not a very joyful event. It is just one of the many pieces that you will need to wear/break down into ingots. The joy of finding armor is spread out into many pieces of armor now. Low joy per piece, and lots of pieces. In MineZ 1 it was high joy per piece, and few pieces.

    - There are very few good towns.

    - Potions are too easy to get (especially splash pots) and they heal too much health.

Ore mining and diamond gear (certain about the first, pretty sure about the second) are planned to be added in the future.

Your feedback is very much appreciated, though I would ask that you do not spread false information such as:

"Shotbow has said that MineZ 2 will not receive updates because there aren't enough players (Shotbow thinks that the number of active players is independent of the quality of the game). In fact, Shotbow has cancelled all further development on MineZ 2."

The above is not true, and I don't know where you heard/read it. In the case that you are simply assuming that information, I would ask that you refrain from doing so.

I'll be working with MineZ 2 code very soon to get some more bugs/issues ironed out, after which new features can be addressed.

Yeah I have seen the diamond ores and actually got a friend to jump down to the vanilla bedrock level to try and mine them with an iron pickaxe, but they weren't getting any diamonds from the ores. Though I think their iron pick proficiency was at the time unskilled or novice. I'm not too sure about this complicated pressure plate and sacrifice stuff your talking about though. o_O

    Sounds exciting! =D

Yes, they really need iron ores in the citys. like in a mine house. that would make me love the game 35 times as much.

    1) This isn't the thread to be discussing your opinions on MineZ 2. This thread is meant to discuss the OP's suggestions (which are really good IMO).

    2) I love MineZ 2. If I were given a choice, I would choose MineZ 2 over Classic anyday. Don't declare that a gamemode should be completely removed if you yourself believe it's bad. MineZ 2 is unique and very different from MineZ: Classic. If you like one of these, it doesn't mean you would like the other, so people who play MineZ 2 might not like MineZ: Classic.

    3) I should stop considering what I said about point 1, but this really annoys me: "Houses only last 10 days. Once you...etc etc... decay (such as me)."
This is called having fun. I can say the same for Annihilation, Ghostcraft, I can even say it for MineZ: Classic. If you play any game "that much" then you would be having fun, which you should be considering that it's a game. Why else do you play games? Personally, I really enjoyed Annihilation, so I bought Silver. Then I got into Ghostcraft as well, so I bought another Silver. Finally, I started MineZ 2, which convinced me to buy Platnium. I donated for Plat because I didn't want Shotbow to die out and lose these brilliant gamemodes.

    ----Back on topic----
Yay, the first two are (hopefully) officially declared to be in the works!
The third one sounds nice, but I can't say for sure because I don't own a house (no house, no worries :stuck_out_tongue:). I'm only concerned about an inflation-like effect, where items and materials such as iron will heavily increase in price. I mainly gain my string from deconstructing (is that what it's called, what you do in the anvil?) bows I find during my adventures, so with higher prices, people like me will have a harder time. Obviously I can simply change my habits so it won't be too big of an issue.
Side note: I like your sense of humor you put in to this thread :stuck_out_tongue: I want to see that pristine diamond hoe in your siggy!

    1) Actually, I can discuss my opinions on MineZ 2 anywhere I feel like it.

    2) It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. I know for a FACT that MineZ 2 is worse than MineZ 1. It is a FACT, not an opinion. FURTHERMORE, even if it was an opinion, MY OPINIONS ARE FACTS. Therefore, MineZ 2 and all of its data should be permanently deleted.

    3) It's not called having fun. It's called an ADDICTION. So many people grind materials for their house and then complain about it. They clearly weren't having fun grinding the materials. The only time you could say they had fun was when they got a dopamine rush after finishing a room, which is very temporary and not worth it at all. People keep on building even when they don't enjoy it anymore.

My points were actually more pointful and productive than anything in this entire thread.
Too bad I can't delete the MineZ 2 forum, because it is pointless. There are countless suggestion threads, and no suggestion has ever been implemented into the game since release. Such a shame too, so many great ideas thrown into the trash (including yours ____J_____) The staff tricks all of you into thinking your opinions matter to them, when in fact they follow a basic formula to respond to people's suggestions to calm them down, and keep them playing MineZ 2 with a false sense that the game will get better, when in reality the game will never receive another update ever again. You see, MineZ 2 died months ago. Can't anyone else see that!?. The staff doesn't even consider implementing any players' ideas because the Profit/Work ratio is far too low to do so. However, the Profit/Work ratio is a lot higher when you simply respond and say something fake like "Your feedback is very much appreciated." Less profit than actually implementing the idea, but MUCH less work.
After this post, you guys can choose from one of the following as a response, because what you say will probably fall under one of these categories:
    1. Whine about how I don't consider other people's opinions or am egotistical.
    2. Comfort yourself by saying that I am spreading false information.
    3. Tell me that I am going off topic, despite the fact that the thread has already derailed.
    4. Continue to waste time being overly optimistic about ores and diamonds, when you know deep down that they will never be added into the game.

The only thing I worry about in regards to the ores are that clans would just camp any good spot for them 24/7. Diamond tools and making string slightly easier to get are fine in my book though.

Updates I would personally like to see, though I have no idea if they would work well balance/codewise are options to grow other crops in house farms (carrots, mushrooms, etc.) and "epic" quests that can be completed over several days for larger amounts of quest rep. Things like killing 5,000 zombies in one life, visiting towns in every corner of the map, just anything that gives a bigger sense of accomplishment than walking to Kuwana and back.

Decent likes Kytan, however the point of the thread was simple updates, low input, high/moderate/any gain. Adding ability to farm potatoes/carrots even in existing fields on the map would be a simple add in suggestion. I'll update the main post for that. However adding functionality to houses to allow you to switch crops takes development time, not as simple.

Ores are in the plans, always have been so my suggestion wasn't to change the plans, simply seeing if it's something that can be easily popped in as we wait on dev focus for larger plans.

These quest suggestions you make will take more time and have been made in a few posts, needs to be prioritized with other things already planned and compared with 100 other valuable suggestions that have been made since the M2 inception. Would be very nice if we had a priority roadmap thread that can be managed by an M2 admin cause there are things suggested daily that have been suggested many times. Some good threads tried to track these, but eventually fell off the forum front page. Need a volunteer and a sticky I guess :)

They will probably be in enough spots that it is impossible to camp them, considering there are already at least a dozen spots you can find iron.

This goes along nicely with J's suggestion to add potatoes and carrots. I do agree, more house farms would be very nice. I'd like to personalize my food choices in Minez, it isn't something big or major but it just feels good. =3
Site note: A brewing room would be nice also, since you still have to go out and get to potions/items to make the potions. Though one problem I see with this is people may put them down and unlock them as to add a brewing stand to a city that wasn't meant to have one. (Though it could only be unlocked once you've built say, a third floor.)

Another great idea! I saw a post for this a month or two ago, sorry for not giving credit but I forgot their name. >-< I've given up on doing quests, since half of the time it tells me I need to go to a spawn town and spam heal people or spend an hour walking across the map (like you mentioned) just for it to bug and tell me I didn't visit one of the places. Overall just a great addition that'll add challenge for the northern-dwellers. =D
