Guys there're a lot of changes that could potentially buff Platinium and Up without breaking the well known EULA we all know is unfair and as we know only allows to add cosmetic changes... Then lets add some :) I've been asking for a /nick feature for VIPS sometimes we want to play a lot without any focuser/ targeting / distractions. Another feature could be the possibility for us to change our color tag (without taking the [P] Color we don't want confusions but wouldn't be cool to change your tag name we all know blue is boooring. Other than that I let your imagination to create new ideas and share it to our community

/nick would be quite fun, there would be alot of trolls using it :lmao:DD

with the colours though, i think you should only change to the colours below you, e.g. platinium, you could be gold silver or basic
e.g. emerald, platinium gold silver and basic, and obsidian you have them all...

that is only so people who want to remain there rank still have exclusivity so a gold person cant have the colour of a plat

If we were to offer Nick, it would likely only be available to media partners. Too much room for abuse, otherwise

I understand but EULA And the fact you guys don't trust us are the main reasons why VIP ranks are so disappointing

Seriously, I would add a option to change the color of your names to the ranks below you, the only reason I haven't upgraded to obsidian is I simply don't like the color, and on a side note what's the color for Ruby?

Some more platinum features would be cool, but I don't agree with the ones suggested above. /nick = Trolls. And just keep name tag the same.

Obsidian is our highest rank at this time.

Right, and nobody has any incentive to spend money on this server anymore if you don't buff the awful ranks

Would the benefits of having ruby or obsidian be public knowledge or will only the people that have the ranks be told? I think I'm at around 650$ but again, purely not upgrading because of the color but if I need to be obsidian in order to get the perks I will certainly upgrade.

There are no actual perks to levels above platinum. Selling a 500$ rank feels ludicrous and we don't really want to

I suggested maybe using bitcoin payments to buy perks.

The official Mojang website says this.

We don’t mind in-game currencies which are earned through playing, but you are not allowed to sell them for real-world cash. Remember - if the stuff you sell affects gameplay, we’re not cool with it.

The U.S. Treasury classified bitcoin as a convertible decentralized virtual currency in 2013.[23] The Commodity Futures Trading Commission, CFTC, classified bitcoin as a commodity in September 2015. Per IRS, bitcoin is taxed as a property.[24]

Note the words "real world cash." So does Bitcoin count as "real world cash." It might, but it is taxed as "property" by the IRS. It is also recognized as a "commodity" by the CFTC.

A "decentralized virtual currency" could arguably be considered "real world cash." It could also be argued that since it is decentralized and not the official currency of any country, that it doesn't count as "real world cash." Bitcoin is completely virtual so is it even really "real?"

If bitcoin isn't "real world cash," are you really selling anything? Mojang doesn't prohibit just giving people stuff that gives them an advantage.

If Mojang were to attempt to shut down shotbow for breaking EULA given that they implement Bitcoin for perks, I believe Shotbow could legally sue.

Companies are not allowed to just shut down entities that don't break their rules on a whim.

So Mojang blacklisting Shotbow would be like a gun company taking away your gun because they didn't like how you used it. Minecraft being the gun and Mojang the gun company.

The worst case scenario is that Mojang changes its EULA to specifically prohibit Bitcoin and Shotbow drops Bitcoin. Therefore going back to its now current state.

Conclusion: It is worth attempting because the benefit of succeeding is very large and the penalty would be basically nothing.

*Yeah i'm going to college for law like you would never have guessed.

As much as this might be a loophole, I think it is a very bad idea to use Bitcoins for payments. Not only because they are very unstable / unregulated, but mostly because Mojang owns Minecraft and they are able to decide how they want to roll with it. The last thing that Shotbow wants is to piss off Mojang or to start a very expensive lawsuit if Mojang decides that it is against the EULA (possibly causing a loss of money beyond what was gained via Bitcoins)

Furthermore, I think it could severely damage Shotbow's reputation if they only allow Bitcoins to be used to buy possibly pay to win related content (yes, buying classes is considered pay to win). It makes it seem like all that Shotbow is after is money, and they have no respect for the EULA or other documents enforced by Mojang or even Shotbow's own community. Next to that, only those who use Bitcoins can then buy things on Shotbow, which I don't think is a majority of everyone.

Another point that you need to think off in your idea involves development time and costs. I don't think that Buycraft supports Bitcoins, so a custom payment gate probably needs to be written. If so, that's one hell of a risk to take if all it takes for Mojang is to update their EULA to rule out Bitcoins too.

All in all, I think that I have touched on some points here that make the use of Bitcoins for Shotbow to bypass the EULA via a possible loophole a bad idea, both for the reputation of Shotbow as well as any further legal trouble with high costs that Shotbow could get tangled up in.

EDIT: Lastly, if a lawsuit were to happen, it is up to the judge to decide if Shotbow broke the rules by using Bitcoins. This means that essentially a gamble could end up in a lawsuit that Shotbow loses, meaning Shotbow will no longer be allowed to operate. Just to have that tiny bit of income via Bitcoins, I think that's even absurd to think of.

I actually agree with you its too risky and I doubt it would make much profit.

I have an idea for another loophole though, what if Shotbow were to have something like "shotbow bucks." They are purchasable with real money and then the "shotbow bucks" are used to purchase an in game currency which can be used to gain perks.

We don’t mind in-game currencies which are earned through playing, but you are not allowed to sell them for real-world cash. Remember - if the stuff you sell affects gameplay, we’re not cool with it.

Basically the in game currency is not being purchased with real money but instead with "shotbow bucks." In essence you create a proxy between the in game currency and real money so that the real money isn't what is purchasing the in game perks.

Technically the shotbow bucks that are being sold for real money are not what is effecting gameplay, its the in game currency then purchased with the shotbow bucks that effects gameplay.

This isn't a TV show where you watch a montage of a group of lawyers combing through a contract in search of 'loopholes'. That's not the way things work in the real world. What you suggested is prohibited by the EULA, and even if it wasn't, it's clearly not something that Mojang would deem acceptable.

Trying to toe the line with license agreements is not a wise idea, considering that the potential repercussions for doing so can include having your server blacklisted and/or being sued by a multi billion dollar company.

Well back to perks. I think colored text would be cool to have. Although you run the risk of people abusing it. I think it would satisfy my needs as a Donator.
