Hey everyone,
We are looking to grow the number of maps we have in SMASH to freshen things up a bit. So we are reaching out to our creative community to get some new maps. As a thank you, anyone who has a map accepted and added to SMASH will be given 250,000xp as a thank you and their name displayed as the creator inside that map's lobby. Here are some guidelines:
1. Maps can be anywhere between 4 and 8 players. Use the current maps as a guide as to how big a map should be. Larger is not always better, as you want people to find each other in combat, but make sure to ensure enough space for folks to move around.
2. Keep the floors and walls relatively thin. Since you can break blocks by smashing your opponent into them, feel free to create rooms, but it is good gameplay to ensure that if a player is smashed through a wall he will fall to his doom or be exposed to an open hole. Floors that are too thick will also mean players battling in the floors will be stuck in a stalemate.
3. Make sure the map has a theme. We aren't looking for simple maps. When a player joins a map it should look cohesive. Fortress, Ship, and what not are great examples.
4. Create the map with item spawn locations that can be risky. For instance, you may want an item to spawn on a platform without walls that requires the player to expose himself to a drop into the void.
5. You do not need to create the lobby. We will do that.
Only reply to this thread if you have a map submission. All other replies will be deleted. Be sure to include multiple images hosted on imgur that showcase the map. Submissions should be worldedit schematics that only contain the map. Don't do a floor to ceiling copy as those are hard to work with.
Good luck and look forward to seeing some awesome submissions!
